<p>He will discuss the current situation in state government, meaning budget crises, the legislative session, and how the state is working to create jobs.  He will talk about the Colorado economy in general, and how Colorado stacks up against other states and some positive areas of activity.</p>

<p><strong>Backpack Program to Feed Hungry Wheat Ridge students</strong></p>
<p>The police department, Wheat Ridge Optimists, and Wheat Ridge Rotary are joining forces to bring this popular area program to Pennington students before launching it in the other 3 schools.  Food distribution is coordinated through the Arvada Food Bank and will be brought to the school on a weekly basis by volunteers from the community.  We are asking businesses to help in one of two ways:  donate money for the program or volunteer.  Several E WR members have already donated money or offered to volunteer.  If you would like to participate.  Please contact Loretta: lorettadschwankl@comcast.net</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>Our Spring Green Expo was a great success.</strong> Lots of interesting vendors, product and service ideas, food and networking.  Thanks to all who participated, attended, purchased items, donated door prizes and helped us market this event.  We had some great feedback and will definitely plan this one again!  Thanks to Dan the Window Man for his doorprize donation of an energy efficient storm door.  As we mention previously, Dan asked that the winner donate it to a person or family in need.  Cheryl Brungardt of Thank Em Promotions was the winner.  She has chosen to donate the door to the Wheat Ridge Housing Authority for a duplex the Housing Authority is currently remodeling.  Way to pay it forward Dan!  Thanks for making a difference in Wheat Ridge!</p>

<p><strong>May 12<sup>th</sup> Breakfast meeting Be in the Know &#8211;<br />
Economic Forecast by Dr. Richard Wobbekind</strong><br />
Enterprise Wheat Ridge will host guest speaker Dr. Richard Wobbekind at their Tuesday, May 12<sup>th</sup> meeting. The public is welcome at this meeting to hear from an expert about the state of the Colorado economy.  </p>
<p>Dr. Wobbekind, is a lead economist at the CU Leeds School of Business. He will enlighten the audience with his depth of knowledge on what makes Colorado tick and what he foresees for the economic environment in the next few months. Questions will be welcomed at the end of his presentation.</p>
<p>Due to the popularity of Dr. Wobbekind and his topic, early registration is strongly recommended because seating will be limited. The meeting is held at the Wheat Ridge Recreation Center, starting with a breakfast served from 7:00-7:30am. The cost to attend is $12.00 for members and $15.00 for guests. Hot news.  Grand Opening!! Our very own Jan Lindgren, owner of Life&#8217;s Reflections <a href="http://www.lifesreflections.com" target="_blank">www.lifesreflections.com</a> will be honored at the Jefferson County Salute to Seniors Heroes Celebration on Thur. May, 7<sup>th</sup> at Clement Community Center in Lakewood.  She was nominated by Enterprise Wheat Ridge for her work on behalf of promoting Enterprise Wheat Ridge and mentoring women in Jefferson County.  She has helped E WR get some terrific new members by visiting businesses, encouraging them to come to our meetings and create buzz about E WR!  Congrats Jan!  </p>
<p><strong>Retirement Party for John Tracy</strong><br />
John Tracy is retiring from Mile High Newspapers. He will still do projects for Mile High Newspapers.  He will spend the summer climbing mountains!  A party in his honor will take place on Thursday, May 14<sup>th</sup> at the Buffalo Rose in Golden, 5:00 &#8211; 8:00 p.m.  No need to RSVP, just show up if you wish to attend and bid John a happy retirement.  </p>
<p><strong>Hospice of St John Community of Light Fundraising Luncheon</strong><br />
The Hospice of Saint John is having its annual Community of Light Fundraising Luncheon on Wednesday, May 27<sup>th</sup> at the Four Points Sheraton Denver Southeast at I-25 and Hampden from Noon to 1:00pm.  </p>
<p>This is a &#8220;free&#8221; luncheon for people to come and learn more about hospice and the Hospice of Saint John.  This event is also a fundraiser. Attendees will be asked to make a contribution, however, there is no minimum or maximum gift requested.  It would be great if you could join them.  This luncheon is by invitation only. <p>We are sad to report the passing of one of our Enterprise Wheat Ridge members.  Dennis Mantas, owner of Wheat Ridge Pharmacy, passed away last week in a house fire.  He was a great asset to the community and he will be missed by all who knew him.  You can send a card to his family in care of Wheat Ridge Pharmacy, 6650 W. 38<sup>th</sup> Ave., Wheat Ridge 80033.  Dennis was one of the Wheat Ridge Business awardees last summer and was very touched to have been honored by the City.  <strong>Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and his employees</strong>.</p>
