Greetings Members …

Hoping this finds everyone pleased with their business results from last week … and anxiously diving into successful activities for this week!

Last week at the meeting I mentioned the need for committee members and pleased to let you know some folks stepped up to the plate. I’m still in need of a couple of members to assist at the check-in table for our monthly meetings. For those of you who attend on a regular basis, this is an excellent opportunity to network and meet others. For those in need of contacts to grow your business … this is the place to volunteer a few hours a month!

I’m also meeting with some members who have expressed the desire to learn more about EWR and other city organizations/activities. If this is of interest to you, email me and we’ll get together. I met with two folks last week who aspire to become board members … are you? If so, again, just contact me and we’ll take time to have coffee and discuss. There are a multitude of volunteer positions available throughout Wheat Ridge … though my preference is you think about how you can better serve EWR. However, I’m more than happy to let you know about all opportunities and point and click you in the right direction!

From talking with several members, I’m hearing great success stories on how their businesses are rallied the first quarter. I hope you are one of those who realized a profit. This said, if you’re in need of adding staff, please remember we have the Jefferson County Work Force Center is our backyard. They have many candidates seeking employment and have worked with each of them to ensure you’d be hiring a qualified employee. Give Jeana Capel-Jones a call for more information.

This week an extra 30,000 people will be coming to Denver for the Women’s Final 4. If you have a way to use Facebook, Twitter or your website to get folks into your business, it’s a great time to do so. Use sports or basketball terms if you want to get creative. It’s also a great opportunity to showcase Wheat Ridge and Colorado!

Think about how you can market to 5 people a day…They can be current or past customers or new people. Just think if you contact 5 people a day, 25 a week, 1000 a year (if you take off 2 weeks for vacation). How much could your business grow and change if you only 10% of them did business with you? We give you a place to meet people once a month. There’s also the BEST classes, networking events, meetings and more…how will you find those 5 people today?

Grocery bags needed for Feed the Future Since we started the Backpack feeding program at Stevens, we are really in need of plastic grocery bags again. Lots of them. Each student’s food items are double bagged so if we are filling 100 student backpacks, we use 200 grocery bags each Thursday and that is only for one school. There are 3 schools being serviced at this time by Feed the Future. Please bring them to the next EWR breakfast or drop them off at Stevens Elementary in the office area.

Grocery bags needed for Feed the Future Since we started the Backpack feeding program at Stevens, we are really in need of plastic grocery bags again. Lots of them. Each student’s food items are double bagged so if we are filling 100 student backpacks, we use 200 grocery bags each Thursday and that is only for one school. There are 3 schools being serviced at this time by Feed the Future. Please bring them to the next EWR breakfast or drop them off at Stevens Elementary in the office area.

Applications now being taken for the 2011 Citizen Police Academy scheduled to begin on Wednesday, March 7, 2012. Classes will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. every Wednesday night through May 23, 2012 (twelve weeks). The final class meeting will consist of a graduation ceremony to celebrate the attendees’ completion of the Academy. No charge to attend. 18 yr or older.
