Grocery bags needed for Feed the Future Since we started the Backpack feeding program at Stevens, we are really in need of plastic grocery bags again. Lots of them. Each student’s food items are double bagged so if we are filling 100 student backpacks, we use 200 grocery bags each Thursday and that is only for one school. There are 3 schools being serviced at this time by Feed the Future. Please bring them to the next EWR breakfast or drop them off at Stevens Elementary in the office area.

Our Holiday Luncheon is right around the corner … Tuesday, December 13th … and hope you’re one of the almost 100 folks registered to attend. Our guest speaker, Chris Tomer, Meteorologist – FOX 31, is an engaging, spirited and welcomed speaker. Chris is also involved in many outdoor sports and will welcome questions after his presentation. What is it you Really want to know about Chris and/or television? Come prepared to ask questions … he’ll be, most likely, apt to respond.

Passport to Wheat Ridge has been met with great enthusiasm this year. We have almost doubled the number of locations with boxes for completed passports. Take time to learn about the program via our website and then educate your customers … they’ll appreciate your effort. Shop Local has become a holiday slogan for many cities throughout the Denver area. We were on the cutting edge of this trend when the Denver Post ran an article a few years back and Wheat Ridge was one of the cities featured. We are also the only city I know that gives awards to the consumer via a drawing!

-      Wheat Ridge Lighting ceremony is one of the Enterprise Wheat Ridge major sponsored events.  It takes place this year on Sun. Dec. 4, 6 pm. at the Wheat Ridge Rec Center, 4005 Kipling.  Lighting of the lights, hay rides, Santa visits, cookies and more.  Let’s have a big turnout for this free event which will be held both inside and outside.  Dress warm and bring your favorite little ones.  Starts at 6 p.m. and is over by 7:30.

Alphabet Group After Hours will take place on September 15th at 1stBank at 44th and Wadsworth. Our last event, held at modmood, drew over 175 business owners from Arvada, Golden, Wheat Ridge and Lakewood.
There will be a food drive at the Carnation Festival. The collection bin will be conveniently located at the entrance of the midway. Please take time to bring a non-perishable food item … your act of kindness will be appreciated.
